All applicants for membership in the Sons of The American Legion must meet the following requirements established by The American Legion to be eligible for membership.(1) Applicant must be a direct male descendant, adopted son or stepson of a member of The American Legion.
(2) Or the applicant must be a direct male descendant, adopted son or stepson of a veteran who died in service during World War I, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Lebanon, Grenada, Panama, and the Persian Gulf War, or who died subsequent to their Honorable Discharge from such service.
All male descendants, adopted sons and stepsons of members of The American Legion, and such male descendants of veterans who died in Service during World I, World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, Lebanon, Grenada, Panama, the Persian Gulf War and the War on Terrorism, during the delimiting periods set forth in Article IV, Section 1, of the National Constitution of The American Legion, or who died subsequent to their honorable discharge from such service, shall be eligible for Membership in the Sons of The American Legion. There shall be no forms or class of membership except an active membership.
A male descendant of a veteran is defined as one of the following:
A great-grandson (and so on)
An adopted son
If you meet these requirements you are eligible for membership in the Sons of the American Legion.
